Branson, Missouri is filled with many attractions, but for a thrill seeker, Silver Dollar City is the go-to place. While there are only three major coaster attractions here, they are all quality, and there are plenty of other things to do, so a visit here is always fun. They even have free cave tours, which is not ordinary for amusement parks. The whole park is set back in time and has a rustic feel that heightens the atmosphere and makes the park feel different than other parks. Silver Dollar City is a very different and unique park, but is one of the best. It's definitely a must-visit park for coaster enthusiasts.
This is actually a very interesting coaster. There is a launch as well as a lift hill, so theoretically, you get two major drops on the ride. The coaster started out as a water ride, built by Premier Rides, but after a few years, the ride was made into Powder Keg. Utilizing some of the previous track, S&S Rides made a launched type coaster, adding new elements such as airtime hills, but still leaving some of the initial ride alive.
Here's a quick video of the drop on Wildfire.
One of the interesting things about the color scheme for all of the rides is that they are all naturally painted as to not disrupt the rustic feel of the park (no, you will not find a red, orange, or purple coaster here), the park has made all of their coasters blend into the landscape colors of the park.
It's just the ride that makes you want to throw your arms up on all of the airtime hills and inversions. Oh, and by the way, there is an incredible arm chopper effect when the train crosses under the lift. It always makes me think my arms are going to hit the beam - and then they don't, which provides a thrill.
While Fireman's Landing boasts 10 new family attractions, FireFall is the major attraction. FireFall is a shot tower, where riders are blasted upwards to the ride's peak, where they will then rebound and then be blasted down with a negative - G level of 1.0, which was very thrilling on a small attraction like this. All in all, this is a great attraction that appeals to all guests - it's thrilling enough that the thrill seekers will want to ride, but not too scary that the younger children will be overwhelmed and not want to ride. It's a fun attraction, and I'm glad the park put it in.
It was a great trip. I really enjoyed opening the season at Silver Dollar City, and had a blast. The rides are phenomenal, the theming is impressive, and the staff is always friendly. It's just one of those parks that offers a different atmosphere inside because of the dedication the park has to maintaining the theme. I hope to be back soon!
Coasters are my passion. It's what I do, it's who I am.
