It's not everyday that you get to see a piece of roller coaster track speeding down the highway at 70 miles per hour. Well, for me, I had the opportunity to experience that today. Traveling on the road, I looked up, and it was there - a giant piece of shiny orange coaster track! Immediately after looking at this track piece, I knew it had to be heading to Lake Compounce for the new Phobia Phear Coaster scheduled to open in 2016. Luckily, I was able to ride next to the truck carrying this track, roll the windows down, and snap some photos of these track pieces, so make sure to check them out below!
The first truck carries this piece. Since this is a Premier Rides Sky Rocket II model, I would speculate that this piece would be one of the sections that leads up highest point of the ride, where the trains twist skywards. This could also possibly be the part on the ride where the track inverts at 150 feet in the air, in a barrel roll fashion.
Some more pictures of the track are above for you viewing pleasure. You can click on the image for a larger view.
By the time of writing this, I'm sure those pieces have arrived. It was very cool to see such a thing as roller coaster track traveling down the road, and not to mention it was National Roller Coaster Day - this was our surprise of the day! With Phobia Phear Coaster announced a few weeks ago, and track already on site, I'm sure we will be seeing vertical construction not too long into the future.
Coasters are my passion. It's what I do, it's who I am.
