It's not everyday that you get to see a piece of roller coaster track speeding down the highway at 70 miles per hour. Well, for me, I had the opportunity to experience that today. Traveling on the road, I looked up, and it was there - a giant piece of shiny orange coaster track! Immediately after looking at this track piece, I knew it had to be heading to Lake Compounce for the new Phobia Phear Coaster scheduled to open in 2016. Luckily, I was able to ride next to the truck carrying this track, roll the windows down, and snap some photos of these track pieces, so make sure to check them out below!
After teasing us for a few weeks, Dollywood has officially announced their 2016 roller coaster! In a new era of wooden coaster technology, Lightning Rod will be the world's first wood coaster to launch . . . yes, launch! But that is not all - Lightning Rod will set yet another record as the fastest wood coaster in the world. This innovative design will focus on the sensation of airtime, where riders are lifted out of their seats, as a compromise to inversions. With over 12 negative G moments, Lightning Rod is for a serious airtime addict. March 2016 should be very exciting!
In 2016, Gale Force will take Playland's Castaway Cove by storm. In a small park, Gale Force will be compact, but still deliver the thrills. This new ride, built by S&S, will be a triple-launched, multi-inversion, highly thrilling roller coaster. To make this coaster possible, some existing rides at the park will need to be taken out. Flitzer and Python, two older coasters will be removed by 2016. Those two coasters were nearing the end of their time, so the replacement of them with Gale Force turned out to be a good thing as the new coaster will refresh that section of the park with newer, 21st century thrills.
Coasters are my passion. It's what I do, it's who I am.
